Judgment machine 🕊️

"No sense makes sense."

I didn't know a thing about them. But my intuitive, unconscious mind decided that I did.
The Branson Family had walked into a Tulsa coffee shop where I worked on a Sunday.
- My judgment machine belched into operation before the family could even fully get through the door.
I spotted a daughter's shirt: "Jesus loves you." ✝️
In my mind, I rolled my eyes and quickly labeled them "The Branson Family."
The Manson Family was a murderous cult that captivated media audiences during the 1960s. Branson, meanwhile, is a Missouri vacation destination for Christians and conservatives. 🔪 💀
Together we get: "The Branson Family."
I'd long before taken to calling the coffee shop where I worked "the Branson of coffee." No one thought my joke was funny.
Based on appearance alone, I likely would not have given The Branson Family the same charm and enthusiasm I would have, say, a beautiful, tattooed public defender dressed in black on black.
Until meeting The Branson Family, my conversations with customers at the coffee shop were mostly about the weather and scones.
- But at one time in history, coffee shops were known as "penny universities."
For a penny, you could get a cup of coffee and an informal education by listening in on debates about democracy, politics, and the arts.
I joke at work that coffee shops are for two things: coffee and revolutions.
